Advocating Excellence

Picture
In 2007, the Sherrard Academic Foundation, a nonprofit, charitable organization, was formed to provide an avenue for alumni, community members and businesses to make a long-term, tax-deductible investment in our teachers, our students and our community.

Although separate from the Sherrard Community Schools, the foundation is charged to support and promote the success of Sherrard school district and the students in the communities it serves.

Opportunities exist for you to get involved please contact us to learn more!

We are volunteer-driven and welcome your support! As part of our mission, we aim to accomplish the following:

  • Support student scholarships for post high school tuition
  • Provide teacher grants for innovative teaching practices in the classroom
  • Coordinate a comprehensive alumni network
  • Develop resources to inspire academic achievement within the Sherrard School District.
Student Scholarships: Designed to inspire excellence for nontraditional students, the Sherrard Academic Foundation awards scholarships for students that demonstrate high potential, but are planning to attend a trade school, certification program or community college after high school graduation. Application details can be found under our scholarship link.

Alumni and Staff Recognition: To celebrate the outstanding achievements of Sherrard or Winola alumni and staff, the Sherrard Academic Foundation Hall of Fame was started in 2008 to recognize those that have demonstrated outstanding achievements in their field and/or significant contributions to the community.

Teacher Grants  In the spring of 2012, the Sherrard Academic Foundation awarded $1500 in grants to teachers within the Sherrard School District. Grants were used to fund classroom supplies, a field trip and an outdoor park project. Additional grants will be awarded during the fall of 2013. Stay tuned for additional details!
