Our 2012 distinguished honorees include:
1963 Dr. Ken Nimrick - Received his BS, MS, and PhD all from the University of Illinois. He was an ag professor at Western Illinois University was was twice named the outstanding teacher at the college. He has headed many programs at WIU. He was awarded the Commercial Producer of the Year in 2006 from the Beef Improvement Federations (the first time anyone from Illinois has ever won the award). He also served in the National Guard.
1980 Dr. Scott Lintner - graduated from SIU Medical School in 1989 and works in orthopedics with a specialty in internal and sports medicine. He completed his internship and residency in orthopedic surgery at Indiana University Medical Center in 1994. He was a member of the NBA team physician society as well as the NFL Physicians Consultant. He was the team physician for the Indiana Pacers and the Indiana Fever as well as Zionsville High School.
1984 Valerie Harris - Received her BS in English from Loyola University in 1992; Masters in library and information science from University of Illinois in 2000. She was the co-editor of Literary Journal Primavera from 1997-2006. Among her many accomplishments, she sits on the advisory board for the Illinois State archives/state records commission.
1952 Roy Douglas - Graduated from St. Ambrose College/University in 1956. He received a masters degree from the University of Illinois in 1958 and in 1968 an advanced management program degree from North Western University. Who worked on the Petroleum Economics Program in 1971 and served in various units of the Exxon Mobile Corp. from 1962-1990.
Mr. Mrs. Clifford King - Clifford came to Sherrard in 1938 as a history/Engish teacher. In 1949 he became the high school principal. He formed the first unit school district in Mercer and Rock Island Counties and Sherrard Community Unit #200 was born. Clifford also was the school's first superintendent and remained the superintendent until his retirement in 1973. Louise taught English, Latin, and Vocal Music at Sherrard until her retirement in 1973. These two people dedicated their lives to the community of Sherrard and the school district.
